(9/30/2021) Greetings from Kentucky! You may recall me mentioning awhile back about looking for jobs. Well, I found one, and here I am in a new state. Not only that, but Kentucky apparently has a relatively high percentage of Klingon speakers. (If you live in Kentucky and we haven't talked about it yet, let me know!)
And how does my friend the ghost like the new apartment, you may ask? Well, she's been bothering me a lot less since I got here, and I think the reason might have to do with my new neighbors:
I don't know whether cemeteries usually have ghosts, or whether a Klingon ghost would even want to hang out with human ghosts, but SOMETHING is keeping her busy and I doubt it's the horses and bourbon.
Speaking of horses, today's song is about a little Sargh (sark), commonly likened to a horse, though as I understand it, a sark lot more fierce than a horse. The creature being referred to is actually more deer-like; I refer to it as a gha'cher (goat-like creature) in my journal entry below, because that seemed like the best word to me. But the ghost went with Sargh (maybe it just sounded better lyrically).
mother and baby
The song is about a young sark who grows up with his mother, but then after turning one year old, has to go out and live on his own. DaH yImej! (Leave now!) she says over and over, but he doesn't get it and tries to follow her around as he always has. Finally, ghughughtaHvIS (while growling), she scares him off and swims across a lake, leaving him behind to start his adult life.
Another line that comes up multiple times is majQa'! Sargh nenwI' Damojta' (Well done! You've become an adult sark), which the mother says informatively, exhaustedly, and finally, proudly. So keep an eye out for that one, even if you don't understand all the lyrics!
By the way, to play this song, I tuned the 3-strings of my Supghew to C-E-A, which means it would be quite easy to play on a regular ol' terran ukulele. Let me know if you want the chords :)
Here's an entry from Suchtuv QonoSwIj to finish us off:
