'ay' loS - wej (wImrew bom)

(7/26/2021) This weekend was qep'a' cha'maH chorghDIch, the 28th annual meeting of the Klingon language institute, and I was very happy to be able to share this song there. But I'm also happy to share it here! Where I can provide more context.

The topic of the song is homesickness. Specifically, it's about the feeling you get when you're on an alien planet and you look up at the stars, and see your own planet's star, and it reminds you how far away from home you are.

Even if you don't know very much Klingon, you will recognize that the title of this song, wej, comes up over and over in the lyrics. The word wej has two meanings in Klingon: three (the number) and not yet. So some things are counted, like wej Hovmeyvetlh (those three stars)  and wej ben (three years ago), but the last line of each verse is wej pa' vIchegh (not yet do I return there).

The song is not about a Klingon, as you will see in the passage below, but a new alien called wImrew, hence the subtitle of the song, wImrew bom (wImrew's song). This is a sketch from my Suchtuv QonoS showing what this alien looks like: 

I had to compromise a bit for the cartoons in the video, because I am very bad at drawing, so all my character design comes from heroforge.com, and there were no frogs with eyestalks there.
